Ever since those planes flew into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and crashed in that Pennsylvania field on 9/11/2001, there have been a kajillion conspiracy theories floating around. For example: How was the government able to release photographs and profiles of all 19 highjackers seemingly minutes after the attacks? If a plane really hit the Pentagon, where are the pictures of the plane parts? Did the entire plane distintigrate on contact? Finally, if the passengers of Flight 93 caused the plane to crash, why wasn’t the debris spread over several miles instead of compacted in one tiny little area like it was, as if shot out of the sky by a missile?

Yeah, we’ve all heard them. But here’s one you may not have heard before:

The 9/11 attacks were engineered by President George W. Bush. To cover up the fact that he’s really a space alien.

Zeb and Elisa Haradon’s “Waiting for NESARA” is mostly fascinating and sometimes maddening, but never dull. It’s somewhat akin to the experience of showing up late to a party and finding all your friends already drunk and/or stoned.

By humanizing the folks comprising the Open Mind Forum, Zeb Haradon, last seen (by me at least) stuck in elevator hell in the memorably odd indie “Elevator Movie” (which he also directed), proves himself a better man than I. He somehow manages to give ample screen time to Jim and Marge and their merry band of cultists without ever ridiculing them.

NESARA is an acronym for a law Goodwin claims Congress secretly passed in 2000. According to Goodwin, the law would eliminate the IRS, forgive credit card and mortgage debt and declare peace. To prevent its announcement, she says, the Bush administration planned and conducted the Sept. 11 attacks and started the Iraq war.

“Waiting for NESARA” runs about 85 minutes. It combines one-on- one interviews with footage of Open Mind Forum meetings and discussions among members about world events, filtered through their beliefs in UFOs and “reptilians” - lizardlike aliens who they say have secretly infiltrated the planet.

The similarities between NESARA, Scientology and Apocalyptic Christianity are striking. NESARA is a Cargo Cult, that believes that the evil extraterrestrials have already taken over. (Click here to go to full article)

The intersection of these factors makes the subject matter of "Waiting For NESARA," http://www.waitingfornesara.com, a little documentary that showed up in my mailbox, especially intriguing. It's about the strange fruit of a get-rich-quick scam in the debt-ravaged American heartland in Utah, which is third in the nation for bankruptcy.

Here is what happened. Once upon a time, a con man, Clyde Hood, went to prison. But like many victims, his ripped-off and faithful refused to believe the wealth he promised wasn't still somewhere out there, winging its way to them. The excuses grew ever more complex.

Any day now, the checks would come.

Any day now, the forces of darkness would stop holding back the checks.

Any day now, Jesus Himself would return in a spaceship, bringing news that President Clinton had signed a secret law in 2000 abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, with the heavenly acronym NESARA. This law (which supposedly stands for the National Economic Stabilization and Recovery Act) would expose the "Republican Party" for what they are: literally reptile space aliens posing as fiscal conservatives.
